  We were visited and told before hand that a Union representative would talk to us about our life ins. plan. Instead, it was a HIGH PRESSURE pushy tactic to buy the biggest plan. We CHOSE after SIX HRS of arguing a LOW plan RIGHT FOR US - DESPITE our "rep" treating us like we were making a huge mistake to not get coverage for a house we don't have and children we don't have. Yes, he blatantly tried to emotionally manipulate us into a huge, unnecessary plan. I majored in marketing (and ethics), and I saw right through his game. Not to mention years of financial studying that had me already very aware of what we need for our future and WHAT INS. CO. OFTEN TRY TO FOOL YOU INTO THINKING YOU NEED. Three yrs later, we got a MUCH better insurance plan through Allstate, and NO pressure tactics, for a 20 yr fix rate. So we left AIL last July. They continued billing us DESPITE both written cancellations and phone calls. We threatened suing before they reimbursed us. THEN, THIS JULY, a year later, I have received TWO phone calls from different reps saying, "This is your life insurance policy (careful NOT to say it was AIL) and it came across my desk your policy lapsed, but for a month's payment, we can reinstate it." I explain, after demanding to know WHAT life ins co., that we did NOT lapse, we CANCELED A YEAR AGO. Then, BOTH reps told me they needed to come by my house to discuss it with me and "collect our documents". I asked, "Do I need to sign anything further for your company to understand I canceled?" They answer, "Well, no, but we need to discuss your options with you, and if you're canceling, we need to collect our documents." Um, NO, those are OUR documents, and you will NOT spend ridiculous amount of time trying to tell me that you HAVE to come to MY HOUSE and pick up MY personal records. You will NOT try to convince me you are doing me a favor when I can write "canceled" across papers or use a shredder. You just wanted more of a reason to come here for ANOTHER SIX HOURS and push your HIGH PRESSURE tactics to give you our money. I thank God that we actually have a great insurance agent now, who treats us like people and not a commission, and that we NEVER have to talk to AIL again. Our company should be ASHAMED to have any kind of dealings with you. Our union and company obviously receive money from some contract with you, because in no other way have we EVER had anything so asinine and fraudulent shoved on us by the union. It is pathetic!
